It’s a rags to riches story in the Yakuza: Like a Dragon announcement trailer

We’ve known for a while now that Yakuza: Like a Dragon would be heading to the West in 2020, but we now finally have our first official announcement trailer. If you’re a fan of the Yakuza series then you’re in for a treat. If this trailer is anything to go by SEGA is on song again.

Unlike the original Yakuza series starring Kazuma Kiryu with his mostly serious take on life, there is a new guy in town going by the name of Ichiban Kasuga. He’s been locked up in jail and upon his release there is no one waiting for him. His Yakuza family has abandoned him and it’s time to prove his self-worth as he makes his way back up the ladder taking on Yakuza and even the Chinese mafia.

The trailer below is absolutely hilarious. There were moments that I literally laughed out loud. Ichiban is an incredibly likeable guy. It’s Japan at the top of their game and, combined with the new RPG fighting mechanics, this could be another huge hit for the reimagining of the series. Expect a host of mini-games and side quests, including an all out kart racing game, as seen below. Be sure to read more on it here.

Yakuza fans, you do not want to miss this trailer:

Married to a gamer and she kicks my ass at most shooters. If the game is enjoyable I'll play it, no matter the format.
