Yesterday, we reported that a new firmware update will be made available for PlayStation 4, and that it will now allow you to do remote play using supported Android devices. What wasn’t known at the time though, was that PS4s also no longer support Facebook sharing.
This came without warning and any explanation as to why Facebook support has been removed. Sony did confirm the removal of the service via their support page:
Starting on October 7th, 2019 Facebook integration will no longer be supported on the PS4™ system. This includes Facebook’s share features such as posting gameplay and trophy activity and using the friend finder feature. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Exactly how many people used the service is anybody’s guess, but seeing as Facebook is such a massive social media company, it can be reasonably to assume that some people will be a little disappointed that they won’t be able to share their screenshots and trophy achievements with friends and family on the platform.
