Riot Games, which many mockingly call Riot Game, due to just having the one title that everyone talks about, is on a mission to be about more than just League of Legends. During a 10th anniversary livestream, Riot went all out, revealing a fighting game, a tactical FPS, a card game, an esports management simulator an animated TV series and an action RPG. Oh and League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics are heading to mobile.
Most of these games are set in the same universe, meaning you get to spend more time with your favourite characters. Ahri and Darius fighting in a desert? Check. Though for now, the fighting game is just a tease is all we are going to get for now. Project L as it was called will have to work out which of the 140 characters make the roster.
Then there is Project A, an FPS that looks like Rainbox Six Siege with with cartoons. Mix character abilities with gunplay and play on near-future Earth in one of the games not set in the League universe.
A card game set in the League universe called Legends of Runterra is trying to muscle into the card brawler space. No booster packs here though, buy the cards you want directly with cash, in-game currency or by winning.
There is also a management game focused on the esports side of League, with actual Pro League teams being used to model the in-game assets. Get ready to manage a team and help them to victory, and revenue from the game will get shared with the featured pro teams. It is pretty wild.
