Epic Games is suing a beta tester for leaking details about Fortnite Chapter 2 ahead of launch.
Ronald Sykes, who has deleted his Twitter account, is being sued for violating a non-disclosure agreement regarding Fortnite Chapter 2. According to Epic, Sykes revealed the information at “the expense of Epic and those in the Fortnite community.”
Epic claims that Sykes ruined the surprise of Season 11. He is accused of tweeting information about Chapter 2 through two different accounts. Besides leaking information, he is also accused of including an image of the map.
Epic is pushing for the maximum applicable damages for breaking the non-disclosure as well as misappropriation of trade secrets. Epic stated that the leak caused it to sustain and “continue to sustain damages in an amount to be determined.”
Non-disclosure agreements with big companies are generally scary things, created in such a way that information doesn’t get out. According to the suit, Sykes was part in Fortnite UX testing in Epic’s office in Cary, North Carolina.
