Fallout 76 is as much a game as it is a social experiment, quite a lot like how the vaults were experiments. West Virginia has been split between those who will fork out for premium conveniences and apparel and those who won’t and it just got a whole lot worse.
Fallout 1st players are being targetted in adventure mode, thanks to the big fancy Fallout 1st icon and the gear that makes these players stand out, it is easy to track down those who are spending money for advantages.
Some players feel that Fallout 1st players are fair game, while others feel that the ire is misdirected away from a company’s business decisions and onto innocent players.
Considering the game’s PVP is opt-in, there isn’t much that these players can do except wander around and pester those with Fallout 1st icons. Those players can also head off to private servers if they want, leaving the Wasteland full of people who won’t pay for access to features and conveniences.
Considering the pushback every time a non-cosmetic item is added to the game’s store, it was only to be expected that players would get upset about a $100 subscription. My biggest question is why these Fallout 1st players are in public servers where they could attract ire when they have private ones available?
