The Outer Worlds is a fantastic RPG and while I’ve only spent a few hours with it, it has already captured my heart that has been aching for a wonderful RPG for what feels like years. It has been very well received critically and it’s available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and it’s planned to release on the Switch as well.
We’ve known that the game will be coming to the Switch, but the exact date has been unknown. However, in a launch press release, they have stated that “After much anticipation, Private Division and Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (and will be coming to Nintendo Switch in 2020).” Which means we won’t be seeing the port this year, unfortunately.
No further details have been shared about the specifics of the port, but it’s probably obvious by now that the little Switch is capable of pulling its weight and delivering full AAA experiences on its limited hardware. We’ll have to wait and see for the release next year to see how it stacks up, but I’m sure many people will cherish the idea of playing Obsidian’s new masterwork while sitting on the porcelain throne.
