I recently had a grand old time in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but the multiplayer did feel like it was somewhat unfinished. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, but there was definitely something missing to the whole experience. Some of it might be linked to the small assortment of maps that we have to play on, but they did decide that the game won’t have a season pass and will rather just release maps for the game to everyone for free.
The extent of which maps we’ll get to see obviously remains unknown right now, but some evidence from a recent datamine tells us that there’s potentially a lot in store. Reddit user Senescallo is responsible for the datamine where they found a host of potential future maps. The maps are:
Cage, Cargo, Hook, Aniyah Tac, Crash, Dam, Krovnik, Farmland, Gulag, Hospital, Layover, Lowline, Lumber, Malyshev, Milbase, Oasis, Port, Prison, Rivne, Shipment (Day and Night), Slums, Stadium, Sub Base, Super, Urzikstan, Torez, Transit, TV Station, Faridah, Rust, Takedown, Borderline, Smetna Farms, Gun Course, and Marksman Range.
Some of the longer Call of Duty fans might recognize some of those map names because they appeared in previous games and were some of the most beloved maps by players. I fondly remember killing people in Shipment which was the close quarters map in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
Obviously this is just some light info mined out of the game by some enterprising hacker man, but it’s not at all out of the realm of possibility. There’s a chance that these were just placeholders or something the developers want to try, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Infinity Ward take such huge steps in the game’s post-launch content.
