Do you sometimes wonder why Nintendo releases a Super Smash Bros. game every single generation? Well, we think we might have the simple answer to that. Lots and lots of money. Since Nintendo released their financial results it’s become evident that the Switch is doing very well for Nintendo in this generation, but something that got overlooked by many come in the form of the sales for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Nintendo confirmed that as of 30 September 2019 they have sold 15.71 million units of the game, which saw it jump up to the number two spot on the Switch all-time best-selling list of games. Right now it finds itself just below the numbers Mario Kart 8 has gained this generation. But, there is something even more impressive hidden under all this information. SSBU is now the best-selling fighting game of all time. It’s topped any version of Street Fighter and has collectively sold more than Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS combined.
Impressive numbers indeed. With more DLC on the way, we expect that number to climb even further.
