Rockstar is notorious for being incredibly elusive with their plans and secrets. Often times we get weak rumours and people grasping at straws before they reveal their game which they have been working on for five years. Because of this impressive secrecy, we never really know what Rockstar is up to, but we can take a couple of educated guesses.
A job listing popped up that is looking for an Animation Systems programmer. The listing says that Rockstar “are looking for an experienced, talented engineer to help us in developing advanced animation systems for large open-world character-based games,” and later in the listing they say they are “a global team of programmers and researchers who collaborate on pushing the boundaries of character animation on next-generation hardware.”
I know what everyone’s thinking, this is probably talking about Grand Theft Auto VI. It would blow my mind if they’re working on a new open-world IP and considering the sheer amount of money that Grand Theft Auto V has made everyone, it would be foolish not to make a sequel. Red Dead Redemption 2 just released on all platforms and while the game has been a massive success, I think it’s safe to assume that we won’t get a new entry into the franchise for a very long time to come. Grand Theft Auto V released back in 2013 so I would put big money on them releasing the sequel in the next generation.
