Divinity: Original Sin is getting the board game treatment and like the game, things are going all out. The board game is currently on Kickstarter, and it has already pushed beyond its goal.
Divinity: Original Sin – The Board Game is being made by Lynnvander Studios, whose portfolio includes board game adaptations of Cowboy Bebop, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dragon Ball Z and more.
The game is made for up to four players and follows a branching narrative with tactical combat and meaningful choices. Sounds like they captured the essence of the game.
Get ready to go back to Rivellon for new stories, quests and more, as well as a few big fights from the games, if you pony up for the extras and goals willing.
The standard version follows four characters, two of which are pretty familiar if you played Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Ifan Ben-Mezd, The Red Prince, Farzanah and Vali will follow an included storybook, which is full of scenarios and locations to visit.
The game uses cards to represent locations, treasure, traps and combat encounters, which follow the video game’s turn-based elemental interaction system.
It looks pretty great and as a fan of the video game and a lover of board games, I want to see this become a reality and do well. The game has 29 days to get more funding, but the goal and the first few targets have already been reached. Hopefully, they hit the goal for Lohse and Beast because I need those two in the box.
Here is a playthrough video, if you are keen on seeing how the game works and flows.
