SA Gamer Awards 2019 – Game of the Year

And so we come to the final entry and the one everybody has been waiting for. We had a year filled with some incredible highs, as well as some horrible lows, but overall we can all agree that 2019 is one that will be remembered.

2019 was also the last year we will see games only for the current generation, with 2020 set to launch two new consoles, new games and a lot more to get excited and argue about. The best thing about 2019 however is the way it gave us such varied experiences, and there were something for everyone, which made our decision for Game of the Year one of the hardest in recent times. There were no clear winners this year and the final decision came down to a vote.

SA vs Eng: Rugby World Cup Final 2019

Ah man, what a game it was! It got everyone in the country forgetting our differences and troubles and standing together for a change. It was a fantastic match to watch and we can all agree that is certainly was the game of the year!

But I digress. The SA GAMER AWARDS GAME OF THE YEAR 2019 goes to:

Control

Control might come as a bit of a surprise to you, as it didn’t really stand out in any of the other categories, but after a vote and some serious debating, we came to the conclusion that the game does everything it sets out to do incredibly well.

Remedy made the complete game, with incredible storytelling weaved into the environment, amazing gameplay and a gorgeous setting. Control is also one of the first games to give us a glimpse of what we can expect in the next generation of consoles, having utilised new technology such as Ray-Tracing in the PC version, making it one of the best looking games of the year. It is the complete package and SA Gamer’s Game of the Year for 2019.
