PlatinumGames’ Switch exclusive, Astral Chain, did “better than expected” the game’s director said during a roundtable interview with Famitsu. Takashi Taura gave the first indication from the studio of the game’s performance.
Taura’s previous work was as a designer in NieR: Automata, with Hideki Kamiya acting as a supervisor.
Now that we know that the game has done well, hopefully a sequel is on the cards. In a different interview, Taura mentioned that there was definitely room for another game. I do have a lot of ideas at my disposal and if there’s an opportunity to make a sequel or more entries, I’d be able to do so.”
I am still in the early hours of my playthrough of Astral Chain, but Charlie loved it, saying that “Astral Chain has a great story, looks amazing and a fantastic soundtrack wrapped into a wonderful package. The combat, though tricky to get used to at first, is absolutely sublime once you master it and it is the real star of this game.”
