Death Stranding’s licensed music selection helped a struggling band out

Say what you want about Hideo Kojima, but he pays a lot of attention to detail in his weird and wacky games. Death Stranding is no exception, and one of the finer details is the music selection and the way it is presented to the player.

The game uses a fair amount of licensed music, and whenever it is being used, the artist’s name, along with the title is displayed on the screen. One such artist is American-Icelandic Post-Rock band, Low Roar, who according to them were really struggling when they got the call from Sony to use their song, I’ll Keep Coming, said frontman, Ryan Karazija:

Sony contacted us in an obscure email offering us a certain amount of money to use the song ‘I’ll Keep Coming’, and they were not willing to tell us what they’re going to use the song for. At that time we were in a gutter so we accepted it. And it turned out it was for Death Stranding.

The song was used in the first reveal trailer for Death Stranding, and the band has gained some popularity thanks to Hideo Kojima, who really liked their music.
