Over the years trainers and players have been spoiled with the third release in many game generations of Pokémon. Pokémon Red and Blue had Pokémon Yellow. Pokémon Gold and Silver had Pokémon Crystal. Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire had Emerald. I think you get the gist. Well, with Pokémon Sword and Shield, things are changing up a bit. Game Freak and The Pokémon Company have decided to expand their horizons with an expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield. Well, two expansions to be exact.
The expansions, namely, The Isle of Armor (a tropical island) and The Crown Tundra (a snowy pass) will allow players to bring over their current saved data from Sword and Shield and play the new story with your current Pokémon. The expansions will feature a new story to follow. Two new areas with both being larger than the current Wild Area. And of course, quite possibly the most exciting bit is that the expansions will bring in over 200 Pokémon that currently do not exist in Sword and Shield. These Pokémon can then be traded to a Pokémon Sword and Shield game even if they do not have the expansion.
Check out the Pokémon Direct below, which also gives us a look at Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX, a remake of the original dungeon games with the addition of Mega Evolutions. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX will release on the 6th of March.
The Isle of Armor expansion will be available in June, while The Crown Tundra will be available in Fall 2020 which is, in fact, our Spring.
