The autobattler and battle royale crazes are still pretty healthy and come January 30 you will be able to see what happens if you mix both of these genres together.
Ubisoft will be launching Might and Magic: Chess Royale later this month, making it the first 100 player autobattler. Heroes and units in Chess Royale are drawn from the Might and Magic universe to combine and create “unique synergies”. Between battles, players will spend gold to recruit characters and can use the scouting phase to look at what other players are doing to try come up with counters or find great synergies to emulate.
The announcement doesn’t really clarify more about the game or how it works with 100 players. It doesn’t seem to be a free-for-all, but more of a bunch of 1v1 matches until the last person standing. I suppose it does mean that your match is over rather quickly if you had a bad army, or hand?
The game is free to play and will be something new to try at least. Dragons and liches and all sorts of creatures duking it out sounds great.
