The Elder Scrolls Online has just finished a year of dragons in Elsewyr, and now our eyes are turning north to the cold climes of Skyrim. No, we aren’t going there to hunt more dragons. It seems Skyrim is even colder and gloomier in the past, and has a serious vampire problem.
Dealing with a dark, gothic story, the next year of ESO is called Dark Heart of Skyrim and it will be split across four updates through the year. The first part of the adventure is a free prologue quest that gets the ball rolling, heading towards the Harrowstorm dungeon DLC in February. Then the Greymoor chapter launches in May, giving us the story bits of a vampire lord who has amassed an army of vampires, witches and werebeasts to bring terror to the cold north. Sounds like a swell character.
The second half of the year will add another dungeon and story zone, but so far they haven’t been announced. There will also be new public dungeons, group world events and a 12-person trial called Kyne’s Aegis.
I guess I will be heading to Skyrim. Again (again).
