Hello my beauties, it’s been so long since we were in each other’s arms. When I last saw you it was still 2019 and the world was only moderately on fire instead of the blazing inferno it is now. But welcome to 2020, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest years in gaming’s history with the next generation looming on the horizon and so many hotly anticipated games releasing just in time to see this generation off. The start of the year has been predictably slow, but once we catch some momentum, it’s going to be one big nonstop thrill ride and I hope you’ll be on the train with us.
Weekly wrap up!
As I said, the start of the year is pretty quiet, but we’re still out here delivering some hot content right to your waiting eyes. For reviews this week, Charlie mucked about in the mud in Monster Energy Supercross 3, Garth relived the old days in Warcraft 3: Reforged and Tim trained his brain in Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training. I also had a look at the game releases for February and we’ll be getting a lot of remasters during the month of love.
Comment of the week!
Our comment of the week comes from MonsterChedd4r on the post about Nioh 2 being as long as the first game:
I’ve been threatening myself to play the first Nioh since it’s on PS Plus, but with people constantly saying it’s a game that tests your mettle, I’ve been a little hesitant. I don’t have much mettle left.
The prizes are back, baby, and we’re starting out with some biking goodness. As you all know by now, there can only be one winner and the winner of Monster Energy Supercross 3 is none other than:
Congratulations to Daniel for winning this week’s prize! We’ll be in contact with you soon to get your prize to you. Think of us when you do your backflip of victory now, you hear?
Thanks to Gamefinity for sponsoring this week’s prize!
What’s happening this weekend?
If you’re ever wondering what the SA Gamer crew does on weekends, wonder no more! Here’s a little breakdown of how we’ll be spending our weekends:
Garth: I plan to finally dive into Death Stranding this weekend, Eskom permitting, to see what the big fuss is all about and to become CONNECTED to everyone else playing this game. [Hopefully you get my structures in your game, I built so many dang bridges and a worrying amount of zip-lines. I’ll also give you a kiss if you request it, but I will need quite a bit of likes. My services aren’t free.]
Charlie: Power cuts happened, and before I knew it I’m running around a place called Hyrule in a green tunic. This is my life now. [It’s all of our lives now. My PS Vita almost sees more playtime than my massive PC and PS4 at this point and if they steal my Switch I would have been running around in Hyrule with you.]
Tim: I recently jumped back into Super Mario Odyssey and yes it’s still fantastic! This weekend I’ll likely complete my second playthrough and be sad that it’s all over again. Otherwise it’s a weekend of friends and family, braais and burgers. I mean what could be better… [If I was there, it could be better. But I might accidentally eat all the burgers, so it’s maybe a good thing that I’m not.]
Marko: I still have games coming out of my pores, but I’d love to finish A Plague Tale: Innocence this weekend and maybe try and get through a bit more of Sekiro where I finally learned how to not be absolute garbage.
And with that, it’s our first Free Games Vrydag of 2020. The year is still revving up, so it’s a bit slow at the moment, but once things pick up, they’re going to really pick up. Make sure you stay tuned to see what madness transpires.
