As one can expect, most of the events that were set to happen in the next two or so months are slowly starting to get cancelled. While we can all do with a bit of a morale boost, it’s in the best interest of the public that these things happen. The newest local event to be scrapped from the 2020 calendar is Comic Con Cape Town, which would have taken place over the first weekend of May.
Any tickets purchased for this year’s event will roll over to 2021’s CCCT which will take place over 4 days at the end of April at the Cape Town Stadium. While a lot is up in the air about what will happen in the next few months, this gives the organising team a lot more time to make the inaugural event extra special.
While it’s still early to say, I do sincerely hope that both Joburg Comic Con and rAge goes forth. We’ll keep hoping against hope that this whole situation turns around, and we’ll be back outside being gross human beings in no time!
In the meantime please stay safe, watch Netflix with friends over the internet, and start hacking away at your gaming backlog! Or, you know, start cosplay crafting…
