Probably one of the most often requested remasters is the legendary Diablo 2. It’s a game that sparked many people’s love of gaming and its legacy has been felt all over the industry. Sadly, the source code for the game is completely gone along with its assets which would make a remaster pretty tough to do, which is likely why we haven’t seen it already.
French website Actu Gaming recently published an article citing that the Activision owned Vicarious Visions is working on a Diablo 2 remaster called Diablo 2: Resurrected. The same website also had rumours for Diablo 4, WoW: Shadowlands and Overwatch 2 before their official announcements at Blizzcon.
Vicarious Visions is responsible for the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy as well as Destiny 2‘s PC version, so they’re certainly very capable of pulling it off. It’s still going to be an uphill climb thanks to the aforementioned issues, but you would think that Blizzard would be very interested in remastering one of their most legendary titles, especially since they’re so fond of doing it these days. Hopefully it’ll be better than the Warcraft 3 remaster though.
This is all just conjecture at this point, so take it with a bag of salt. The site also alleged that the remaster will be available during the fourth quarter of this year and if it’s true, we’ll likely get an official announcement soon.
