While Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey involve a lot of fighting, killing and climbing of tall mountains for a good view, there is a lot of detail in the places you visit that you might have rushed by at high speed. Did you know that building you jumped across to escape the guards was actually where priests prepared bodies for mummification? Or that Order of Kosmos target you just killed was hiding in a temple to Aphrodite?
So many small details populate these Assassin’s Creed titles, and the game has a mode that aims to teach you all about the finer points. How did Egyptians make bread? Did you know most of them had beer at breakfast time? How much do you know about the Greek pantheon? There are some amazingly wild rides waiting for you, and if you never played the AC games, you might find the historical side of things to be quite enjoyable.
Normally Discovery Tour is free if you own the game, but $20 or so each if you just want them on another platform or don’t own the games. From now until May 21, both of these tours are free on Uplay.
Get ready to explore both games without any fighting, just tours of locations filled with extra information on how people lived so many years ago. Or just go explore, soaking in the sights of pyramids, temples and vistas. In Odyssey, you can also unlock mounts and take quizzes to test your knowledge.
If you love history, this is a no-brainer. But even if you normally just enjoy Assassin’s Creed for the open-world and stealthy stabbings, this might make you feel in awe of the level of detail put into making a world come to life.
