Mortal Kombat has a long and storied history with violence. It was the game that caused so much ruckus back in the early days of gaming that we now have a parental rating system and it was notorious for its brutality. Instead of easing off, the future titles leaned into the violence more and more and the latest games have no shortage of brutal body mutilations and bloody combat. Violence is all well and good, but you have to ask the question, why can’t we all just get along?
Included in the latest update for Mortal Kombat 11 called Aftermath are the Friendship finishers. They were initially intended to be a little jab at the game’s controversies by offering non-violent jovial cutscenes instead of the normal brutal finishers, but they were last seen in the franchise 25 years ago. Now they’re coming back and they’re as hilarious as ever. Warning, there’s still a bit of brutality at the beginning, so protect the children.
What a magical video, wouldn’t you say? The update is coming out on the 26th of May for all platforms and is completely free, so if you have the game, be sure to check out all the new content and witness these hilarious finishers firsthand.
