Unfortunately, we live in the age of leaks, unplanned reveals and accidental revelations. Be it an over-eager employee at an online retailer in Sweden, an innocent janitor who just happens to be at the right place at the right time with the high def camera we all carry around in our pockets these days or a more sinister or purpose-driven exposé – it’s all part of the news cycle. And this week it seems Xbox’s new look Store may have been leaked by a twitter user – that is according to Mehedi Hassan writing for Thurrott. (So as to protect those that may not want to have the new look spoiled we decided not to embed the images – however, for those that want to sneak a peek click on the Thurrott link above).
As pointed out by Hassan, the new design reflects Microsoft’s current ‘Fluent Design’ style and is very similar to the “new Xbox app Microsoft has been testing for PCs”. Among the most noticeable features of the revamped look is the navbar now appearing on the left-hand side of the screen. The new design is apparently codenamed Mercury and while that’s not really important – codenames are always kind of cool to throw around, right? Of course, as there has been no confirmation from Microsoft – we’ll have to wait patiently to see of this leaked look becomes the official redesign for the new console’s online marketplace.
