Last week Sony announced that we would finally be getting some more information about the PS5 and specifically the games we could expect to see on the system in a special event originally due to take place Thursday 4 June. However, after the significant protests occurring in the US after that announcement Sony made the decision to postpone the event out of respect, stating:
While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard
Yesterday, it was confirmed that the event Sony is calling “The Future of Gaming” will now to take place this Thursday 11 June at 10 PM SA time. As detailed before, the event will last just over an hour and provide a first look at the games we can expect when the PlayStation 5 launches later this year. The PlayStation Blog also provided a bit more information about the event yesterday confirming that the ‘pre-taped program would be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second’ and assured players that the games will look ‘even better’ on the PS5 itself in 4K. The blog also encourages viewers to enjoy the show with headphones on Thursday because “there’s some cool audio work in the show, and it might be harder to appreciate if it’s pumped through your phone or laptop speakers”.
