If you were checking your social media feeds over the last few days, odds are you’ve spotted the Crash Bandicoot 4 leaks. First, some merchandise seemingly indicated a new Crash may be on the way. While this seemed pretty slim info to go on, we then started to see an image of the PS4 and Xbox boxes allegedly leaked by the Taiwanese ratings board floating around. Then IGN also released a video showing that they had received a package from a “Bandicoot” containing a puzzle of a mask (apparently similar to one present in the leaked image). To top it all off some apparent screenshots of the game leaked shortly after and we basically knew the game was all but confirmed.
And yesterday, we finally got some official confirmation. A tweet from the official Crash Bandicoot account stated:
It’s a real pity the leaks happened, but as a big fan of the original trilogy of games, I can’t wait for more Crash. Of course, as pointed out by several people online already, the included number of the new game and the chosen developers are quite interesting. First off, confirming that the new title will be Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time shows they obviously want to distance themselves from Traveller’s Tales’ Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex (which was already considered the 4th Crash game). Leaked images also seem to show that it is the Toys For Bob team behind the new game. While Toys for Bob did do a great job on the updated Spyro trilogy, Vicarious Visions was the team behind the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. So it’s quite notable that they weren’t the development team chosen for this new game.
IN any case, tune in at 5 pm SA Time for the official reveal.
