Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City Wire shows Braindancing and the Badlands

Last night a whole bunch of Cyberpunk 2077 news was revealed in a digital livestream event called Night City Wire. The game is set to release on November 19 for PS4, Xbox One and PC, with an enhanced version releasing later for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

A new trailer shows off the city and how your job to steal from a corp goes horribly wrong. The trailer is only from the prologue, so it doesn’t spoil much. Jackie and V will need to get some upgrades to take on bigger jobs and it shows the seventh district called the badlands, an area outside the city. Nomads roam the badlands, convoys of trucks and caravans.

The show also explained what Braindances are, a way of going into recordings of someone else’s experiences to relive memories. Braindances give sights, smells and sounds to the user, making it some pretty sci-fi VR. V is shown experiencing a robbery of a grocery store. V can explore the grocery store as an observer, finding a new perspective. This will allow players to experience a whole variety of stories and the history of the world. In-game, Braindancing is used for carnal thrills, because you know that is exactly what this tech would be used for. Also, it can carry a danger of the Braindancer dying during the experience, called Flatlining.

Night City Wire mixes developer Q&A with new features and game information and seems like a great format for exploring more about this game while we all wait until November. This wasn’t a once-off, and episode 2 is already in planning.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
