For The Last of Us Part 2, Naughty Dog has no plans to develop DLC. The game is already the largest title by the studio and while content was inevitably left on the cutting room floor, it looks like things are complete.
The Last of Us got a DLC called Left Behind explored Ellie’s life before she met Tess and Joel, and her discovery of being immune to Cordyceps. We learn a lot about Ellie in the DLC, spending time with Riley. The DLC was integrated into a multiplayer offering, which added skills, weapons and map packs, where TLOU2 has no multiplayer component to worry about it.
While Neil Druckmann says there are no plans for DLC, this isn’t necessarily the end of the story. Druckmann is at least entertaining possible avenues for a third game. In an interview with GQ, he said: “As you start wrapping things up, creatively there are fewer and fewer responsibilities and my mind can’t help but think about the next thing. So, yeah, the next thing could be a Part 3, the next thing could be some new IP.”
So if you have questions, we might have to wait for a third game for the answers. Or we might never know more, depending on what part of the game you wanted more information about.
