Originally exclusive to Xbox, Ori and the Blind Forest received a very well made and also well-received port for the Nintendo Switch during that time when Microsoft and Nintendo were showing some public affection for each other. This, of course, led to fans asking if the recently released Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be making it to the Switch as well.
Unfortunately, a port for the excellent side-scrolling platformer seems very unlikely as stated by Moon Studios in a Reddit AMA. Lead Engineer, Gennadiy Korol stated that even though they really love the Nintendo Switch, they are not currently working on a port, and if they were to make it, it would be very hard to do:
Right now we don’t have anything to share when it comes to Ori and the Will of the Wisps port. If it were to ever happen though I can tell you that it would be (an) extremely difficult port to make run at 60fps.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps did have some performance issues on base Xbox One consoles, something I personally can confirm, so getting it to run at a solid framerate and decent resolution might be a big stretch for the Nintendo console which just doesn’t have the same power as an Xbox One. Still, it is a port I think we all would like to get behind.
Moon Studios also confirmed that there are no plans for a third instalment in the Ori series, saying they’re happy with where they left the story, though they are open to going back if the opportunity is there.
