Earlier this week, EA released the first official box art for the upcoming FIFA 21 title. The cover star (as you can see in our header image above) is PSG star Kylian Mbappe. Mbappe is a lightning-fast attacking player (usually striker or winger) currently plying his trade for the French champions and despite his young age he already boasts a huge array of trophies including a World Cup. Some also consider him to be the most valuable player – so it makes a lot of sense that he would be gracing the cover. However, it seems most people seem most interested in just how ‘bad’ (at least in their opinion) the box art is – with some even comparing it to a PowerPoint presentation (Thanks Nintendo Life). Check the twitter thread below at your own peril:
We also got the first official ‘reveal trailer’. You can check it out below. Along with Mbappe other young stars Erling Haaland, Trent Alexander-Arnold and João Félix also feature prominently. It seems at least some of the shots were filmed in each player’s home (likely due to the recent lockdowns) and even Cantona makes an appearance (and narrates as far as I could tell). The website also confirms that Volta will be making a return, and we can look forward to updates in FUT, a more detailed manager-focussed Career mode and even updated gameplay namely in dynamic attacking systems (let’s hope some more intelligent forward runs!). Apparently, more info will be revealed in August – so let’s hold thumbs until then.
