Microsoft teased a brand new game last night called Avowed, a new RPG from Obsidian.
Ever since Obsidian Entertainment was acquired by Microsoft back in 2018, many have wondered what this would mean for the company that made Pillars of Eternity. Matt Booty, VP of Microsoft Studios, said at the time that he wanted Obsidian to “fully realise their creative ambitions on both existing franchises and new RPG projects.”
Obsidian has since released The Outer Worlds, which tried to recapture the glory of Fallout: New Vegas among the stars. It has also been working on a survival game called Grounded, and while that looks interesting, it feels far removed from CRPGs like Pillars of Eternity.
Now we return to that universe at least, with Avowed being set on the same world of Eora, where Pillars happens.
“Is an oath worth the weight of a crown?” Hopefully we will get more information on this title soon.
