Yesterday, Nintendo announced the second wave of their so-called ‘Summer Update’ series for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The first update, back in June, included the rather exciting swimming addition. This time around, the update includes three notable additions. First off, for the month of August, every Sunday will include fireworks shows. According to the video, these you will be able to launch your ‘own custom-design fireworks’.
The next big announcement was in the form of the addition of dreams while in sleep. During dreams, not only will you meet new character, Luna, but according to The Verge, she will also “offer visits to other islands as a dream, and with her help, you can share your island as a dream with others too… In dreams, nothing is permanent because nothing you do is saved, so explore to your heart’s content.”
Finally, the biggest announcement was the confirmation of ‘The Island Backup & Restoration Service’. However, if you were hoping to finally be able to transfer your island to another Switch – you’ll probably be rather disappointed. As described in a @animalcrossing tweet, the current service only “allows #NintendoSwitchOnline members to upload their game data online & recover data in the event of loss or damage. The ability to transfer #ACNH save data is planned for later this year.”
