Come the 30th of September, Larian Studios will be putting Baldur’s Gate 3 in early access on Steam and Stadia.
The early access release will contain act 1 of the game, which is supposed to be roughly 25 hours of content. Larian even dug into the statistics, in case 25 hours doesn’t sound like a lot of content. The early access launch has some 45,980 lines of English dialogue, 596 characters and 146 spells and actions. There are five recruitable Origin characters – elf/vampire rogue Astarion, human wizard Gale, Githyanki warrior Lae’zel, half-elf cleric Shadowheart, and human warlock Wyll – with more on the way. Six player classes will playable.
That’s a hefty amount of content, offering a good chance to dig into the game’s various systems to see how they work. Larian says that the game promises a “depth of reactivity” and I can’t wait to see how things pan out across different choices.
