Oh boy does Nintendo like to drop surprises on everyone. Last night, while nobody was paying attention, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was announced for the Nintendo Switch and is slated for a 20 November 2020 release.
The game is a spiritual successor to Hyrule Warriors but serves as a prequel to the stellar Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, telling the story of the events that led up to that game.
Nintendo also released another video explaining what we can expect from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The game will still feature the same action-packed gameplay, but due to a close collaboration between Nintendo and KOEI Tecmo Games, it will have the same sort of look and feel as Breath of the Wild.
Finally, Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the Legend of Zelda series gave an update on the development of Breath of the Wild 2, which was announced in 2019, saying that even though they are working on it, it is still going to take a long time to come out. So basically, it will be ready when it’s ready.
