Last week the news was all about Xbox. Thanks to a late-night leak that finally pushed Microsoft into revealing the price for their upcoming consoles – we now know that the Xbox Series S R6 999 will cost and the Xbox Series X will cost R11 999 here in SA when they launch on the 10th of November. Now, while I don’t think anyone thinks these are in any way ‘cheap’ – there has been some local disagreement about whether or not we’re being ‘overpriced’ here in SA. In any case, a definite upside to the price reveal has been that the game of chicken is done – and it looks like we may be getting the PS5 price later this week.
Randomly, on Saturday – Sony decided to reveal that they will be hosting a PS5 showcase on Wednesday. The blog details the contents of the event as follows:
Before PlayStation 5 launches this holiday, we wanted to give you one more look at some of the great games coming to PS5 at launch (and beyond!). Our next digital showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes, and feature updates on the latest titles from Worldwide Studios and our world-class development partners.
As you can see above, no official comment on whether the price will be revealed, but surely Sony can’t afford to wait any longer. The interesting thing will be to see how the prices compare. Will Sony dare undercut Microsoft – or will we see the prices hit similar heights? Be sure to tune in on Wednesday at 10 pm our time to find out.
