In August, Sucker Punch surprised all of us with the announcement of their upcoming Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, which is a free PvE multiplayer add-on for their absolutely stellar Ghost of Tsushima. It is part of Update 1.1 and will feature a ton of new goodies including New Game +.
Legends can be accessed via a new NPC found in various towns and areas called Gyozen the Storyteller, who essentially tells the mythical stories of the Legends. Legends will have two modes at launch, including a 2 player story mode as well as a 4 player survival mode. A 4 player Raid is expected to be released later in the year.
There will be four classes available, the Samurai, Hunter, Ronin and Assassin, and each will have their own unique skills and abilities that can be acquired and levelled up as you play:
Samurai: Samurai players can run straight toward combat and stay there, sustaining their health while chopping enemies down left and right. When you’re overwhelmed, use the Hachiman’s Fury ultimate attack to slash through enemies in a flurry of strikes.
Hunter: As a Hunter, you can stand on the edge of combat and snipe enemies before they even see you. You can also use explosive arrows to slow down groups, and when the combat gets really fierce, the Eye of Uchitsune ultimate attack will unleash multiple arrows straight at your enemies’ heads.
Ronin: Ronin players can revive their entire team with the Breath of Izanami ultimate ability. You might play Ronin because you want to help your human friends… or you might do it because the Ronin class is also able to summon a Spirit Dog. (And yes, you can ABSOLUTELY pet your Spirit Dog!)
Assassin: If you prefer doing massive damage with a single attack, you’ll love the Assassin. The Shadow Strike ultimate attack will allow you to teleport across the battlefield and directly strike your enemies. If that’s not intimidating enough, wait until you see the terrifying masks the Assassin gets to wear!
Update 1.1 will also bring with it a wealth of new content for New Game +, which might even entice those who have already completed the game and got a Platinum Trophy for it. Some of these include a new Horse, some powerful new charms that might change up your playstyle, as well as additional upgrades for your weapons and armour. A new merchant that gives NG+ cosmetic rewards can by found exclusively in this mode using a specific Ghost Flower rewarded for completing tasks you already have the rewards for.
Finally, Ghost of Tsushima will also be getting Armour Loadouts, which will allow you to switch between different charms and gearsets depending on the situation and playstyle. Total play time will also be added to your save file.
