Spelunky 2’s first zone might get tweaked to be a bit easier

Spelunky 2 runs can end in an instant. One bad judgment call, one poorly timed jump or unlucky string of events will have you lying on the floor, heading back to the beginning. That was the same in Spelunky, but some players feel that Dwelling (World 1-1 to 1-4) is a tad too tough. Some even feel that Dwelling is more difficult than subsequent levels.

In an update to the game’s Steam page, creator Derek Yu discusses the game’s first area and difficulty.

“We know Dwelling is causing players frustration and I think there’s some fair criticism there, so we’re testing some changes to the spawn rates of enemies and traps, particularly in 1-1 and 1-2. Some tweaks to 1-4 should make it more interesting, as well! Look for those changes to arrive in a patch some time soon.”

So if you were battling, a helping hand is on the way. Of course, you might want to try other options of beating the zones. “I will say that, from reading the feedback, I’m getting the impression that some players are trying to kill every enemy they come across in Dwelling, when it’s often better to avoid them or, even better, let them kill each other or trigger traps for you! Moles are great for setting off arrow traps, for example. If you’re having trouble getting out of the first area, try some new strategies!”
