Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta players are turning off crossplay to avoid PC cheaters

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s beta weekend has already soured the crossplay environment, with many players on console turning off the feature. The reason for this? Blatant cheating.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War had a beta for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this weekend with crossplay enabled and not far into the weekend, console players started mentioning that they had turned crossplay off. The subreddit is full of posts of game clips showing players using aimbots. The cheaters aren’t even being subtle about it as their view just snaps from person to person.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta players mention rather having longer wait times than deal with hackers and cheaters. Some users said that they would prefer a console only crossplay option.

Considering many players of Warzone have crossplay turned off to avoid PC cheaters, it already looks like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is going the same way. Either cheat detection and punishment of cheaters gets ramped up, or any effort on making games crossplay seems a bit wasted right now.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
