2020 has been a whole year of delayed, postponed, cancelled or modified event announcements thanks to Covid-19, and the beginning of the 2020 calendar doesn’t seem to be faring much better.
This year didn’t have a BlizzCon instead opting to have an online version of the event in February next year. This BlizzConline, from February 19-20 will be free to everyone.
After years of BlizzCon being a pay-to-play event with a few things available for free, but the bulk of the panels, deep dives, Q&As and more behind a paywall, this BlizzConline will have no virtual ticket. Blizzard president J. Allen Brack said in a fireside chat that the team wants a big virtual celebration, so they are removing the paywall.
Hopefully, we will see something Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4 related at BlizzConline, and I wonder what engagement they want to see. Will there be the standard virtual ticket setup, or is everything moving to Twitch, where chat can spam emotes and chat strings?
