2020 has really been a year and a half. We’ll likely remember these 12 months for more negative reasons than positive ones. However, now as we finally approach the final stretch, those of us that love video games get to look forward to The Game Awards; And the opportunity to look back at a special year for games. While it is definitely not guaranteed that every game we love will get a mention (nevermind a nomination or even that ever-elusive win) The Game Awards have become a great way to celebrate the medium we enjoy. And although the awards are the reason for the show, in many ways, it is the celebration and the possibility of a peek into what the future will bring from some of our favourite developers that brings all together.
Yesterday, the first major step in that process began. The nominations for the various categories were revealed. It’s worth having a look at the official site for the full list but in the headlining ‘Game Of The Year’ category, the nominees are: Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost Of Tsushima, Hades, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Last Of Us: Part II. Did your personal favourite make the cut? Let us know in the comments section below.
