Sequels are the name of the game in today’s day and age, and it is for good reason. People get invested in the world that was created and want to see more of it. So it’s easy to see why we keep getting sequels, prequels and spin-offs set in the universe of we know and love.
But every year a new IP shows up and give us a reason to invest in a new world and a newly created universe. It doesn’t matter what genre it is, there are sometimes new games that just grab our imaginations in the most wonderful ways.
Ghost of Tsushima
This past year gave us a lot of things we would rather forget, but when it comes to games, that certainly isn’t the case. Ghost of Tsushima is one of the gems we got this year and it is not only our vote for the best new IP of the year but also one of the best games we received over the last generation. It doesn’t do anything really new in the open-world genre, but what it does, it does so damn well. It really is one of the best things that came out of the year 2020.
Runner-Up: Fall Guys
