Prince of Persia Remake delayed again… no new date announced

Back in September 2020, we got a big announcement from Ubisoft that Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time would be getting a remake. Well, first an internal leak via the Russian Uplay store, and then an official announcement. It’s a game many people out there remember playing and were therefore really excited for. Back then, the release date had been set for 21 January 2021. However, once December came around we got an announcement from the team that the game’s release would be delayed. The new release date was pushed to the 18th of March.

However, on the weekend – we got another announcement from the ‘Remake dev team’ which you can check out below:

I’m sure we’ve all heard the Miyamoto quote a million times and are becoming more and more accustomed to the fact that games will continue to see serious delays due to the COVID pandemic. So this isn’t really a big issue. What is a little interesting is that no new date was provided. Now, of course, that could simply mean the team has decided to be more conservative this time around. However, cynics may see the line “This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.” and wonder if that perhaps indicates a slightly more serious overhaul is happening.

Either way, it’s a bummer that the date has been moved – but we all know this is understandable these days. And as long as the finished product is a good one – not many will be too concerned.
