PlayStation Play at Home will soon have 10 new games to download for free

Is it just me or does it look like Sony is finally taking notice of Xbox Game Pass? Now, that might sound like a strange way to start out a PlayStation Play At Home news article, but hear me out… For some time now, Microsoft’s trump card has been getting better and better press. We’ve written about how great Game Pass is several times ourselves. Then, last week Microsoft’s Bethesda acquisition became official and within hours we had 20 games hitting Game Pass and seeming confirmation that at least some future titles would be exclusive to Microsoft platforms. The subscription service is simply out of this world and it seems Sony has finally started making moves to compete…

Not only have there been “bigger” titles as part of their monthly free games for PlayStation Plus (Control: Ultimate Edition & Concrete Genie (February), Final Fantasy VII Remake (March)) but they’ve also resurrected the Play at Home initiative they launched in April last year. First, we got Ratchet & Clank (which is still available to download for free until 31 March). And yesterday, in what (at least to me) seems like the first proper go at Game Pass – PlayStation revealed that nine games would be available to download completely for free. And while the nine games which will become available on 25 March include some real hits (Subnautica, The Witness, Moss, Rez Infinite, Enter The Gungeon, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Abzu, Paper Beast and Thumper) – in perhaps even bigger news the blog post also revealed that Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition would also be available for free download between April 19 and May 14.

So, what do you think – is this Sony’s response to Game Pass? Will we be seeing more of the same in the future? Let us know in the comments section below.
