Subnautica is an open-world survival action-adventure game set on an alien world and its first-person perspective makes you face your fears of watery depths and alien creatures as you explore the new world. The icy-flavoured big sequel Subnatica: Below Zero is due to launch next month and in preparation, the Unknown Worlds Entertainment team has released a pretty great cinematic trailer showing off what life is like on planet 4546B if you’re an adventurer braving the frost. Usually, survival games like this aren’t my thing. However, Garth always speaks very highly of the game and as it recently became available for free as part of Sony’s Play at Home initiative – I decided to give it a go. I’m several hours in at the moment, and while I still have to get used to a more laid-back undirected gameplay loop – I can’t help but see why this game is so well spoken of and having finally hit a few of the important plot points I can’t wait to explore more. And if the new Subnautica: Below Zero trailer is anything to go by – I may still be exploring for some time.
