The time of the demo is back, with many developers opting to let us get a taste of their games before purchase. Whether it is Outriders, Resident Evil Village or some other game, it feels like we are seeing more and more demos again. Now AtomicTorch Studio is inviting you to try out Cryofall.
Cryofall is a multiplayer sci-fi base building and survival game. It reminds me a lot of RimWorld, except instead of controlling pawns as a benevolent (or absolutely terrible) overlord, here you control one of those characters trying to survive on an alien world, complete with failed colonisation attempts.
You start with nothing, building a small base as you research technologies and find resources. The game is built round team-based cooperation, with some big beasties to take on. Or you can roll on a PVP world and wipe out everything someone else has built, until someone bigger arrives and does the same back.
Cryofall is offering an eight hour demo, where you play the full game with a timer in the corner. It is quite impressive, seeing as many people don’t even play their games for eight hours. Just look at the drop off in trophies and achievements from something earning in the first 10 minutes of any game, versus the achievements for something five hours in.
I’m tempted to grab this and hopefully convince some friends to play on a private server, building a massive base full of cool tech.
You can check it out on Steam.
