Stadia sheds even more staff…

So just how much longer will Stadia exist? It may sound like a strange question; Especially for us South Africans that haven’t even been able to try it out. However, whenever Stadia is in the headlines these days – it seems like it’s bad news. Back in February, they decided that (despite the massive investment already made) they would not be making first-party games. Jade Raymond was also let go as part of the ‘new direction’. She subsequently started up a new studio. Then a few days ago we learned (as per VGC) Stadia’s head of product John Justice had also left the company. And apparently, the solemn string of departures continues…

As per Danielle Partis (writing for gamesindustry.biz), six more people have left Stadia. And if that wasn’t bad enough, those six have left to join Raymond’s new venture – Haven Studios based in Montreal, Canada. They are apparently working on something for PlayStation. So, I return to my question posed at the outset… Just how many more of these kinds of departures can Stadia take before it simply ceases to exist? Probably makes sense why I decided to point the Stadia controller downwards now, right?
