Say goodbye to five Need for Speed games as EA delists them

Five Need for Speed titles have been delisted from sale, ahead of their online services shutting down in August.

Need for Speed Carbon (2006), Need for Speed Undercover (2008), Need for Speed Shift (2009), Need for Speed Shift 2: Unleashed (2011) and Need for Speed The Run (2011) have all been removed from digital storefronts and the in-game stores of all five games have closed.

Until 31 August, anyone with these titles can play multiplayer but after that date, the games will be strictly offline only.

“Decisions to retire games are never made easy, but we are now shifting gears to focus on the future of Need for Speed,” EA wrote.

It is odd that EA did not give anyone warning that the games were being delisted, or that the in-game stores were closing. Some games that are being delisted also give all their DLC and unlocks for free, for one last rush of players before the big server shutdown.

In terms of preservation of games, EA could do better.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
