Ark: Survival Evolved has one last hurrah before the second game arrives, and rounding off the long journey is Ark: Genesis – Part 2… and I have no idea what is going on or how many games we are actually playing here. Seriously, watch the launch trailer and explain it to me please.
Some of the stuff I recognise, like building a nice base, riding on the dinosaurs and going to war with them. I like the idea of riding around on some kind of… windsurfing gadget and maybe fishing in a canoe.
Then there are mind-controlling little critters, man-eating plants, talking to alien blobs covered with eyes, something that looks like RTS controls, and ships flying around laser barricades with targeting chevrons. Is this all the same game, really?
Genesis – Part 2 is supposed to be Ark’s largest map ever and the story will explain why Vin Diesel is involved in Ark 2. I just want more dinos to love and care for, while most of my friends will make some horrible breeding scheme that only keeps the best ones, leaving the others outside the base where they think I can’t see them.
“As you brave the many dangers of this new world, you’ll gain access to powerful new tools to aid you. You’ll learn how to place remote cameras, pull off tricks with a floating skateboard-like Hoversail, take care of your eggs with the high-tech Incubator, shoot arrows made of pure energy with the Tek Bow, even engage in a Real Time Strategy command mode within the new Exo-Mek—and far, far more!”
Genesis – Part 2 is available on Steam as part of the Genesis Season Pass, or the Ultimate Survivor Edition, which are both on special right now.
