Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is aiming for authentic, brutal combat

It will still be a while until we see Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, but Ninja Theory is already sharing details about the development process.

Creative director Tameem Antoniades revealed some information about the game during the Xbox extended showcase. The team is at work on the foundations of the next part of Senua’s story, not ready for full production yet.

Part of these foundations will be adding to the realism of the characters and places in the game. Real-world costumes are being scanned in and the team has been travelling around Iceland to capture the vistas and landmarks of the country.

In the last two years, the actor playing Senua and the animators have been in combat training. Antoniades says the combat will be “real and brutal”.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and was announced in 2019 at The Game Awards.

And if you want a few hints as to the tone and themes of Hellblade 2, those are waiting to be found in the video.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
