Tekken X Street Fighter was ‘30% complete’ before it was canned

If you were hoping that somehow Tekken X Street Fighter was going to emerge into the light of day, we have some bad news.

Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada confirms that the project is well and truly dead during his YouTube series Harada’s Bar. Tekken X Street Fighter was announced 11 years ago and it eventually just disappeared, leaving many wondering what actually happened.

Harada confirmed that the Bandai Namco/Capcom collaboration project has been dead for some time. Harada was talking with Tekken 7 director Kouhei Ikeda. “We were working really hard on that, we really were. Wish we could show you the models and stuff.”

Harada said that Chun-Li and Dhalsim looked great in their 3D models, ready to take on Tekken fighters in a 3D arena, but they can’t show the models because the characters belong to Capcom.

Street Fighter X Tekken didn’t do too well and then when Tekken 7 took off in popularity, the need to chase after a project that might not land well just fizzled away.

At least we know for certain.

If it has the letters RPG in it, I am there. Still battling with balancing trying to play every single game that grabs my interest, getting 100% in a JRPG, and devoting time to my second home in Azeroth.
