Tom Clancy’s XDefiant may have a terrible name but it does look like a super fun time. XDefiant takes factions from many other Tom Clancy games and makes those factions playable classes. These factions have their own abilities and ultra powers, but they aren’t tied to a specific person within that faction.
You can change classes and loadouts at respawn mid-match to counter your enemy team if needed.
So it’s like a mash up of Call of Duty, Overwatch, Siege and Valorant. There isn’t a release date at the moment, but there is a call for a sign up for an early open beta in August (only for US/CA for now) here.
Check out the reveal trailer below.
The game will release with 10 maps, 5 modes and 4 classes.
The classes are as below:
- The Wolves (from Ghost Recon) are the tanks
- The Outcasts (from The Division) are the healers
- The Cleaners (also from The Division) are the DPS dealers and
- The Echelon (from Splinter Cell) are the intel support roles.
It seems that this is a long term commitment from Ubisoft as they mention in the reveal trailer that there will be additions after launch, so we are probably looking at more classes, maps, battle passes, and so on.
There will be crossplay at launch across all major platforms, but the game will only be available through the Ubisoft connect store on PC.
I think this will be an interesting one to play, even if its name is a mouthful.
