September PlayStation Showcase: KOTOR, Kratos, cars and claws…

Sony took 40 minutes of our time last night and filled them to the brim with a host of new games and game updates. I’ve listed them all below, in order of appearance at the show.

Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Do I need to say anything more? Darth Revan emerges from the shadows and fans lose their minds. Coming exclusively to PS5 and PC.

Project Eve

Huge weapons, big combos and super fast movement. Lots of huge monsters to smush and.. tentacles?

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

I love Borderlands, and I love Tiny Tina. She’s crazy, likes blowing everything up, believes in Unicorns and has a sassy comeback for everything. We had our first look at gameplay and it felt like a very weird Skyrim, instead of swords and maces and magic being duel wielded, think Borderlands gun in one hand and magic in the other. Looks like a ton of fun.

I liked the look of this one. Lots of strong female leads, magic and fast agile movement. It will be with us in 2022. There are also cats.

Rainbow Six: Extraction

A new trailer drop for the game showing off some new gameplay, story, creatures, tactics and other mechanics often found in siege games. We also got a closer look at how the actual extraction works.

Alan Wake Remastered

If you like horror and suspense, Alan Wake has always been for you. Now you can play it in updated graphics for a more horrific time in the dark. The game arrives October 5th.

Grand Theft Auto 5

I never thought I would be writing about a game as long as I have been writing about this one. The PS5 version of the game is coming in March of next year, and thanks to theprowess of the PS5’s SSD, it now includes better graphics and gameplay, seamless character switching and a PS5 version of GTA Online

Ghostwire: Tokyo

This was creepy from the word go and I can’t quite tell you what it involves. There is some shooting, and then a Slender Man, awful looking nun ghosts and other monsties. Not my cup of tea, but have a look below.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

SPACE PEW PEW! A weird space cult. Also cute dog. The game looks like its coming along nicely and will be with us on October 26.

The Vampire Masquerade BR will be coming to PS5 later this year. We got a look at a better looking menu than currently exists on PC and we got to see playable characters. Looks like it could be fun when its fully done.

With this game literally out next week on the 14th, we can assume this is the final trailer to convince us to buy into the new franchise. Frankly I find the whole thing a bit all over the place, but near the end we see Colt starting to put bits of clues together, so maybe there is hope yet.

Kid A Mnesia Exhibition

Epic Games and Radiohead (the band) have teamed up to create what was described as “an upside-down digital/analog universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac”. It will be on PS5 in November.

This was the highlight of the show for me. A uniquely animated open world adventure that takes place in a tropical landscape. Use your boat to explore, solve puzzles, meet and make friends with animals that will help you along the way, and at some point, even gain a parachute to glide around the world with.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Not a full remastered Uncharted collection unfortunately, only Uncharted 4 and spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. However, both upgraded to look their best on PS5.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is yet another PS5 exclusive made by Insomniac Games. The trailer is short, but the claws give it away. We can assume it is very much a work in progress but if Spiderman is anything to go by, we are in for a treat.

Gran Turismo 7

Vroom vroom. Realistic looking cars, tracks and tons of customisation to cars. This will keep long time fans of the franchise happy for sure. Coming March 4 2022.

Spider-Man 2

Insomniac at it again. This time Peter and Miles will be fighting crime together and it seems that Venom will be included in the game. The Russian accented voice over has made the internet think the Spidey’s will have an issue with Kraven the Hunter. The game is still a far way out with a planned release in 2023.

God Of War: Ragnarok

Finally we know that the second God of War game is named Ragnarok. The trailer unpacks a lot. I wouldn’t watch it if you haven’t played the first game as of yet as there are lots of spoilers and references to the first game. Enjoy!

That wraps it up. Do you think Sony has done enough to pull up to Xbox yet, or is Game Pass still winning your heart? Let us know in the comments below.
